Infosys co-founder and Aadhaar architect Nandan Nilekani is leading a government task force focused on reforming India’s examination system to enhance transparency and technology integration, addressing concerns over widespread paper leaks.

Now the panel will work on making the competitive exams in India more transparent, technology-driven and make it reliable at the time when paper leak has become a nationwide issue in the country.

From Infosys Co-Founder to Technology Visionary

Nandan Nilekani was born in Bengaluru in 1955, he was graduated from IIT Bombay in Electric engineering. He started his career at Patni Computer Systems where he met NR Narayana Murthy. In 1981, Nilekani joined Narayan Murthy and five others to create Infosys, that later turned one of India’s largest IT services companies. He was company’s CEO from 2002 to 2007, then he became Co-Chairman of the company. Later, in 2017 he against joined Infosys as Non-Executive Chairman and became important part to leadership transition.

The Man Behind Aadhaar

In the time when Nilekani left Infosys in 2009 and joined Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) as founding chairman. In his leadership, Aadhaar became World’s largest biometric identity programme and making a secure identity for billion of residents.

Now, Aadhar is known to support welfare schemes, banking, taxation, digital payments and various government services, and it has become the most sought identity card for Indians. Nilekani’s work in Aadhar made him popular in digital world in India and internationally.

Why PM Modi Picked Him

Nilekani’s history of technology reforms has made PM Modi choose him to reform India’s examination system with the help of technology.

“Our examination system must be trustworthy, transparent and make maximum use of technology,” he said.

The government has not released any official statement about the panel but they are building it up on Nilekani’s experience. This announcement came after government has decided to reform public examinations after many exams papers got leaked.

PM Modi said that the government has already taken strict action against who are responsible for the paper leaks.

“The report of this task force will help ensure the credibility of upcoming examinations at the earliest,” he said.

This announcement came after Former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned and new Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has taken the charge of Education ministry.
