Leader of Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, is upset about comments on the comparison of two Hindu gods and says that it was an attempt to instigate divisions among the members of the Sanatan society.
Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav criticized comparisons between Hindu avatars as divisive, demanding authorities act against the commenter, and linking the incident to other alleged religious controversies.
The post published by Yadav on X has strongly criticized the comparison of gods and demanded that the authorities take action to find out who is trying to disturb the harmony of the religion. He wanted to know if the attempt was from within the society or outside.
Not naming the person involved in the controversy, Yadav calls him the man who is wandering around with political protection and who made such kind of comment that might offend the religious feelings.
Akhilesh Yadav Says Comparisons Between Avatars Are Unacceptable
The post made by Yadav criticized the apparent derogatory comparison of two avatars of Hinduism.
ये बेहद दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण और आपत्तिजनक समाचार है कि कोई राजनीतिक प्रश्रय प्राप्त ‘लघु-बंधु’ बनकर घूम रहा व्यक्ति सनातन समाज की एकता को तोड़ने का अति निंदनीय कार्य कर रहा है। ये गहरी जाँच का विषय है कि सनातनियों के बीच सामाजिक सौहार्द बिगाड़ने का षड्यंत्र कौन कर रहा है, क्या इसके पीछे कोई बाहरी शक्ति है या आंतरिक, इसकी पड़ताल अपरिहार्य है।हमारे पूज्य अवतारों के बीच नकारात्मक भाव से जानबूझकर अपमानजनक तुलना की जा रही है। एक अवतार के मुक़ाबले दूसरे अवतार को बेहतर बताने की साज़िश सनातन समाज के विरुद्ध चली जा रही बहुत गहरी चाल है। हर सच्चा सनातनी इन दोनों अवतारों का उपासक होता है। नवमी-अष्टमी का भेद किसी के मन में नहीं होता है। इस अवांछित तुलना से सनातन समाज इतना आहत हुआ है कि दोनों अवतारों के नाम का उल्लेख करके हम उसे और आहत नहीं करना चाहते हैं। सनातन समाज के अतिरिक्त भी अन्य समाज और वैश्विक संगठन भी घोर आहत महसूस कर रहे हैं। ‘लोकरक्षक’ और ‘लोकरंजक’ दोनों ही एक ही के अवतार हैं, दोनों की लीलाएं अपने समय-काल के अनुरूप घटित हुई हैं फिर ऐसी गरिमाहीन तुलना का तर्क क्या है और उसके पीछे क्या मंसूबा है ये स्पष्ट किया जाए। ईशनिंदा का अपराध करनेवाले ऐसे व्यक्ति के पीछे, उसके किसी संगी-साथी की कुटिल मंशा कार्यरत दिखती है। ऐसे निंदात्मक विषय पर तो हर राजनीतिक दल और उसके समर्थक भी इस तथाकथित वाचक के विरुद्ध एकजुट हो गये हैं। अगर इसे नहीं रोका गया तो इससे समाज में अशांति और असंतोष का वैमनस्यकारी वातावरण बनेगा। ये अक्षम्य पाप है, ऐसे व्यक्ति को समाज, सनातन, देश हित में निरुद्ध-अवरुद्ध करना ही एकमात्र उपाय है। पूजनीय देवी अहिल्याबाई होल्कर जी की मूर्ति का अपमान, मणिकर्णिका घाट का तोड़ा जाना, जगह-जगह मंदिरों को तोड़ना; परमपूज्य शंकारचार्य जी पर निकृष्टतम आरोप लगाना और उनके बटुकों पर प्रहार करना; जन्माष्टमी मनाने पर रोक लगाते हुए तोड़फोड़ करना; ये सब अनायास ही नहीं हो रहा है, इसके पीछे कोई तो है जो इस छल-कुचक्र को रच रहा है। अब वो सब कहाँ हैं जो अपने को सनातन का ठेकेदार मानते हैं, क्या वो अपने परंपरागत भूमिगत निवास में जाकर छिप गये हैं। हर धर्म-मज़हब-संप्रदाय या उसके आराध्यों-महापुरुषों के प्रति किसी भी प्रकार का विष-वमन कदापि स्वीकार्य नहीं है। सर्वोच्च स्तर पर संज्ञान लेकर दंडात्मक कार्रवाई हो।

According to him, both the avatars were forms of the same divine spirit, and hence their actions and their roles should be interpreted in the light of their particular times.
Yadav referred to these two avatars as ‘Lokarakshak’ and ‘Lokaranjak’. Yadav claimed that it was improper to compare one form to another, as it might hurt the feelings of the devotees.
Furthermore, he said that devotees did not have any difference in their devotion to both these avatars.
SP Chief Seeks Action Against Person Behind Controversial Remarks
Yadav alleged that the person making the remarks was not acting alone and suggested that associates or supporters could be influencing the controversy.
He claimed that political parties and their supporters had come together in opposition to the statements. Warning about the possible consequences, he said such remarks could create an atmosphere of anger, unrest and hostility in society.
The SP chief called on the highest authorities to take notice of the matter and initiate appropriate action against those responsible.
Akhilesh Yadav Links Other Religious Controversies To His Concerns
In the same post, Yadav referred to several other incidents that he said had hurt religious sentiments. These included the desecration of a statue of Ahilyabai Holkar, the demolition of Manikarnika Ghat, the destruction of temples at different locations, and allegations made against a Shankaracharya and attacks on his young disciples.
He also mentioned disputes surrounding restrictions on Janmashtami celebrations.
Yadav questioned whether these incidents were isolated developments or part of a larger pattern. He alleged that someone could be working behind the scenes to create religious discord, but did not provide evidence in the post to establish a connection between the incidents.
Towards the end of his statement, Yadav said that insulting any religion, faith, sect, deity or respected religious personality was unacceptable.
He urged the authorities to take the matter seriously and impose punishment wherever violations were established.
