The passing of legendary singer Asha Bhosle on April 12, 2026, led to an outpouring of grief across the country. Fans, celebrities, and public figures paid heartfelt tributes to the iconic voice.

Legendary singer Asha Bhosle died on April 12, 2026, prompting tributes and controversy when Athiya Shetty posted an incorrect photo. Shetty later shared a corrected tribute; Bhosle’s funeral is set for April 13, 2026, in Mumbai.

However, amid the mourning, actor Athiya Shetty found herself facing criticism online after a mistake in her condolence post.

Athiya Shetty’s Post Triggers Controversy

Athiya Shetty, daughter of actor Suniel Shetty, shared a message on Instagram to mourn Asha Bhosle’s passing.

But the post quickly drew attention for the wrong reason. She mistakenly used a photo of Lata Mangeshkar, who had passed away in 2022, instead of Asha Bhosle.

The error was noticed almost immediately by social media users. Although Athiya deleted the post shortly after, screenshots had already spread widely online, leading to backlash.

Social Media Reactions

The mistake sparked strong reactions on platforms like X (formerly Twitter).
Some users expressed disappointment, calling the error careless, especially during a moment of mourning. Others criticised the lack of attention to detail, saying public figures should be more careful while posting about sensitive matters.

Athiya Shetty Is Beauty Without Brains

She posted a story with photo of Late Lata Mangeshkar instead of Late Asha Bhosle.

Nepo kids just want to be relevant somehow, without hardwork or struggle and thats why their movies flop and they make such blunders. https://t.co/hy3KvJwUUo pic.twitter.com/4TXjZ0SJJ3

While reactions varied in tone, the incident quickly became a trending topic, with many users sharing their opinions.

No Official Response So Far

So far, Athiya Shetty has not issued any public clarification regarding the incident.
However, she later shared another post paying tribute to Asha Bhosle, this time without any errors. The post focused on honouring the singer’s legacy and contribution to Indian music.

Funeral Details of Asha Bhosle

The last rites of Asha Bhosle will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026.
Fans can pay their respects from 11:00 am at her residence, Casa Grande in Lower Parel, Mumbai

The cremation is scheduled for 4:00 pm at Shivaji Park
Many prominent personalities from the film and music industry are expected to attend.
