Akshay Kumar has helped transform a government school in the remote Gurez Valley region of Jammu and Kashmir through a donation of Rs 1 crore.

Actor Akshay Kumar donated Rs 1 crore in 2021 to construct a modern school block at Government Middle School Nero Tulail in Jammu and Kashmir’s Gurez Valley, naming it the Shri Hari Om Bhatia Education Block and improving facilities for local children.

The contribution, which was made in 2021, has now resulted in the construction of a modern school block at Government Middle School Nero Tulail in Bandipora district.

The newly built structure has been named the Shri Hari Om Bhatia Education Block in memory of the actor’s late father.

The upgraded school infrastructure is being seen as a major boost for children living in one of the country’s most isolated border regions near the Line of Control.

New School Block Built With Akshay Kumar’s Donation

The Rs 1 crore donation from Akshay Kumar helped construct a new academic block for Government Middle School Nero Tulail.

The newly developed facility now includes:

  • Modern classrooms
  • A computer laboratory
  • A library
  • Office space for teachers
  • Improved Midday Meal facilities

Locals say the upgraded infrastructure has significantly improved the learning environment for students in the village.

The school is located in Tulail, a remote area in Gurez Valley that often faces harsh weather and connectivity challenges due to its location near the border.

School Block Named After Actor’s Father

The newly constructed building has been named the Shri Hari Om Bhatia Education Block as a tribute to Akshay Kumar’s late father.

Residents and school staff have described the gesture as meaningful and emotional, especially because the donation has directly benefited children in a region where educational resources are limited.

The project has now become an important part of the school’s infrastructure and is expected to help students for many years.

Akshay Kumar Visited Gurez Valley In 2021

According to locals, Akshay Kumar visited Gurez Valley in 2021 after receiving an invitation from the Border Security Force (BSF).

During the visit, the actor travelled to Tulail village in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, where he met local residents and interacted with school children.
Reports suggest that after seeing the condition of the school and the challenges faced by students in the remote area, he decided to support the institution financially.

Actor Also Spent Time With BSF Personnel

During his Gurez visit, Akshay Kumar also interacted with BSF personnel stationed in the border region. He reportedly spent time with jawans, clicked photographs and even danced with them during informal interactions.

The actor also visited a war memorial and paid tribute to soldiers who lost their lives while serving the country.

His visit had received significant attention at the time, especially because of the difficult terrain and sensitive border location of the region.

Better Facilities Bringing Change For Students

With the completion of the new building, students in the village are now studying in a more comfortable and organised environment. Locals say the improved classrooms and educational facilities have already started making a visible difference in students’ daily lives.

Many residents believe the better infrastructure will encourage children to continue their education and create stronger academic opportunities in the remote border region.
For students living in isolated mountain areas, access to quality school infrastructure often remains a major challenge. The new school block is therefore being viewed as an important step toward improving educational support in Gurez Valley.

Akshay Kumar’s Upcoming Films

On the professional front, Akshay Kumar is currently working on several upcoming projects. The actor is expected to appear next in films including Welcome to the Jungle and Haiwaan.
