In Karnataka’s Yadgir district, two government school teachers have been suspended for allegedly participating in a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) patha sanchalan in Vijayapura district while serving as government employees.

Karnataka suspended teachers Gururaj Joshi and Annasaheb Deshmukh for allegedly attending an RSS patha sanchalan in November 2025 while employed by the government, following a complaint and inquiry into their conduct.
The disciplinary action comes nearly nine months after the event, which was held in November 2025 as part of programmes marking the RSS centenary celebrations.
Who Are The Two Teachers?
The suspended teachers have been identified as Gururaj Joshi and Annasaheb Deshmukh.
Joshi is a teacher at Hunasagi Girls’ High School, while Deshmukh serves as the head teacher of the Government Lower Primary School in Kuppi village.
Both teachers are posted in Yadgir district but had allegedly participated in the RSS event held in Talikoti in neighbouring Vijayapura district.
Why Were The Teachers Suspended?
This happened following a complaint filed by Ambedkar Swabhimani Sene, wherein it claimed that the two teachers participated in the RSS event despite being government servants.
The matter was taken up by the state government by way of filing a complaint against the teachers.
Following that, the matter was considered by the department of education.
Priyank Kharge Sought Inquiry
The organisation had approached then Rural Development Minister Priyank Kharge over the issue. Kharge subsequently wrote to School Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa, requesting an inquiry into the participation of the two teachers and appropriate action if the allegations were established.
The Education Department later conducted an inquiry into the complaint.
Suspension Orders Issued
Following the departmental inquiry, Yadgir Deputy Director of Public Instruction Channabasappa Mudhol issued suspension orders against the two teachers.
The action was taken several months after the RSS programme was held in November 2025.
The case has now brought attention to the rules governing the conduct and activities of government employees in Karnataka.
