Uttar Pradesh is preparing large-scale events on 17 May to mark higher honorarium payments and felicitation of part-time instructors across all districts. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will lead the main state-level ceremony at Lok Bhavan auditorium in Lucknow from 4 pm, with district programmes running in parallel under detailed government directions.

Uttar Pradesh is holding events on May 17 across all districts for part-time instructors, distributing symbolic cheques for their increased honorarium effective April 1, 2026. A prior May 5 event for Shiksha Mitras announced revised pay, ₹5 lakh cashless health cover, and mutual transfers.

The state earlier approved an increase in honorarium for part-time instructors through a government order, with the revised amount effective from 1 April 2026. Based on this decision, symbolic cheque distribution events will now take place across the state, turning the policy announcement into visible district-level programmes involving public representatives and officials.

Additional Chief Secretary, Basic and Secondary Education Department, Parth Sarathi Sen Sharma has instructed all District Magistrates to ensure grand events in every district, parallel to the Lucknow function. The communication mentions participation of in-charge ministers, MPs, MLAs, other public representatives, District Magistrates, Chief Development Officers and district-level officials during the ceremonies.

District administrations have been asked to plan wide publicity for the 17 May honour events so that large gatherings attend. Instructions specify strong participation from teachers, part-time instructors and local residents. After the formal proceedings end, public representatives in each district will hand over symbolic cheques reflecting the increased honorarium to part-time instructors.

Benefits linked to Uttar Pradesh part-time instructors honorarium and Shiksha Mitra support

The government had already organised a separate programme on 5 May for Shiksha Mitras, focusing on distribution of their increased honorarium. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honoured selected Shiksha Mitras at that ceremony and personally gave them cheques showing the revised payments, along with announcing additional welfare measures for the group.

During the 5 May function, Yogi Adityanath announced cashless health services and mutual transfer facilities for Shiksha Mitras. Under this scheme, every Shiksha Mitra will receive an annual cashless health cover of five lakh rupees. The Basic Education Council has been directed to start providing this benefit immediately to all eligible Shiksha Mitras in need.

The Chief Minister also directed the council to ensure bank accounts are opened for every Shiksha Mitra without delay so that honorarium is credited directly. The government has arranged postings for Shiksha Mitras within their home districts or nearby schools, with special focus on married women receiving mutual transfer options near their parental home or in-laws’ residence.

Key features of Uttar Pradesh part-time instructors honorarium and Shiksha Mitra schemes

Key provisions announced for part-time instructors and Shiksha Mitras are summarised below for clarity.
