After the nation-wide Gen-Z protests, now Gen-Alpha protest in UP’s Hamirpur is grabbing attention after school students calling themselves as Gen-Alpha staged a protest over a badly damaged road. Hundreds of students and villagers from Chandoopur reached to collectorate office carrying the national flag. They even tried to enter District Magistrate’s office, however, police stopped them which forced students sitting outside collectorate’s gate.
School students identifying as ‘Gen-Alpha’ and villagers protested in Hamirpur, UP, over a damaged 1.5 km road in Chandoopur block. The route, made impassable by mud after rain, affects access to education and hospitals for around 3000 residents, who demand permanent construction for the estimated Rs 60 lakh project.
Why Did Gen-Alpha Students Protest?
The Gen-Alpha students are asking for the construction of a proper road connecting many local areas under Chandoopur gram panchayat in Kurara block. The road stretch roughly about 1.5 KM has got covered with mud and slush after heavy rain, making daily travel difficult for locals.
For Gen-Alpha the major problem is that the road is affecting their education, according to local residents, the students are failing to reach schools. Even to take sick or injured people hospital also has become very difficult for locals.
Students Try To Enter DM Office
The students and local villagers started their protest while moving their march towards collectorate’s office in the morning. The officials Sadar SDM Abhishek Kumar and CO Yashpal Singh reached the office as soon they got to know about the protest. Police alongside them even tried to stop the protest but Gen-Alpha didn’t stop there.

The group continued march towards collectorate office and they even tried to enter DM office but they were stopped at the gate by police. Then the protestors stopped at gate and started protest at the main gate itself.
July Protest Did Not Solve Road Problem
This was not the first time when students and villagers protested for the road, earlier also on 3 July they protest outside collectorate office. At that time, the authority cleared the waterlogging and put soil on the damaged road for temporary solution.
However, the repair didn’t last till this monsoon and it started become muddy and difficult to cross. For that residents are taking different route through the city forest and even that route has been closed by the Forest Department.
Almost 3000 people live around the affected area and officials have said that the road project will cost around Rs 60 lakh. Now the protestors are asking for permanent construction and also a clear timeline till when the road will be completed.
