A tragic road accident on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway claimed the life of a senior lawyer on Saturday.
Senior lawyer Srinivas Rao died Saturday when a concrete truck overturned onto his BMW near Keesara Toll Plaza on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway; police are investigating potential brake failure and driver negligence.
The incident took place near the Keesara Toll Plaza in Kanchikacharla mandal when a concrete-laden truck overturned onto a BMW car, completely crushing it.
How the Accident Happened
According to initial reports, the truck lost control while taking a turn near the toll plaza. It is suspected that brake failure may have caused the driver to lose control, leading to the truck toppling over.

The heavy vehicle fell directly onto a red BMW car that was passing through the area at the time. The impact was so severe that the car was flattened under the weight of the truck.
Victim Identified as Senior Lawyer
The victim has been identified as Srinivas Rao, a senior lawyer. He was driving the BMW at the time of the accident.

Earlier in the day, Rao had travelled to Amaravati to participate in the Bar Council elections. He was returning when the accident took place.
Rescue Operation and Aftermath
The situation at the accident site was extremely serious, as the car was completely crushed under the truck. Rescue teams had to use heavy machinery, including JCBs, to remove the debris and recover the body.
Rao’s body was later sent for a post-mortem examination.
Police Investigation Underway
Police officials have started an investigation to find out the exact cause of the accident.
Authorities are:
- Reviewing CCTV footage from the toll plaza
- Checking if the truck was overloaded
- Investigating possible driver negligence
According to Vijayawada Police Commissioner SV Raja Sekhara Babu, all possible angles are being examined to determine responsibility.
Traffic Disrupted on Highway
The accident also caused partial traffic disruption on the busy highway. Vehicles were delayed as authorities worked to clear the wreckage and restore normal movement.
