Congress is set to stage a mega rally in the national capital on November 1, after the Delhi Police allowed the party to go ahead with the event at Ramlila Maidan, in view of the electoral roll revision and Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) row.
The rally is part of the Congress’s campaign against the contentious Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The Indian National Congress secured Delhi Police permission for a rally at Ramlila Maidan on November 1, protesting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and voicing concerns over Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Rohit Rajbir Singh told the media on Saturday that the Indian National Congress approached the police for permission to conduct the rally.

The rally on November 1 was scheduled to be held between October 25 and November 3, and the police have granted NOC to the party for this period.
Delhi Police stated that it is discussing with the Congress, traffic police, and other authorities to chalk out security arrangements, traffic management, and other logistical details for the event.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge announced plans for a mega rally after opposition parties comprising the INDIA bloc finalized their election manifestos on September 30. The INDIA bloc decided to step up efforts on the electoral roll revision and take the campaign to “Save Democracy” and hold rallies and ‘Save Democracy Marches’.
Kharge said the Congress and other INDIA bloc parties had agreed to demand elections through ballots instead of EVM.
The Congress is determined to oppose the Election Commission’s decision to use Electronic Voting Machines in elections, citing concerns about the integrity and transparency of the voting process.
The Election Commission faces scrutiny over the conduct of the SIR, with critics arguing that it did not adequately consult political parties before implementing the changes.
