Tamil actor Dhanush is expected to meet more than 3,000 women executives and volunteers of his official fan club on Sunday, 25 October. The meeting comes amid growing speculation about a possible political entry after his fan organisation was renamed the Dhanush Narpani Iyakkam, or Dhanush Welfare Movement.

Tamil actor Dhanush meets 3,000 fan club members near Chennai on October 25, following his fan organization’s renaming to Dhanush Welfare Movement, amid speculation about his political entry. His political plans remain unconfirmed.
Dhanush Fan Club Meeting Draws Attention
According to people familiar with the arrangements, the 43-year-old actor is expected to attend the meeting at a private engineering college on the outskirts of Chennai. Banners and posters featuring Dhanush have been put up across the campus ahead of the gathering.
The fan club’s name change was formally approved at an executives’ meeting in Coimbatore on 14 October. The organisation also unveiled a new logo featuring the actor with folded hands inside a large red star, surrounded by a circular red and white border.
Actor Earlier Urged Fans To Do Welfare Work
Dhanush’s political ambitions have not been confirmed. However, he has previously encouraged his supporters to take part in social service activities.
At an event in Tiruvallur district on 27 July, he asked fans to go beyond attending film and music launches and help people in their neighbourhoods.
“You need to give this unity a purpose. Not just by attending audio launches (of his movies) but joining hands to do welfare work in your neighbouring areas. Do whatever you can for the people in your respective region, for the families living near you,” he said.
On 15 October, former AIADMK minister K T Rajendra Balaji said the party would welcome Dhanush if he decided to join it. DMK veteran S Regupathy also said anyone had the democratic right to enter politics, adding, “When Vijay can enter politics, why not Dhanush?”
Vijay’s Political Success Fuels Speculation
The discussion around Dhanush comes after actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) emerged as a major political force in Tamil Nadu. Vijay had earlier converted his fan clubs into the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam before launching TVK on 2 February, 2024.
TVK won 108 seats in the April 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and formed a post-poll alliance with the Congress, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi and the Indian Union Muslim League. The government assumed office on10 May.
Tamil Nadu has a long history of actors entering politics, including former chief ministers M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa. For now, Dhanush’s political plans remain unconfirmed.
