A 36-year-old Home Guard has been arrested and removed from service after he was caught on video assaulting a woman and dragging her by hair near a railway station.

A 36-year-old Home Guard deputed at Hafizpet Railway Station was arrested and removed from service following a video showing him assaulting and dragging a woman; Cyberabad Police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and he was repatriated for disciplinary action.
The accused was later produced before a court for judicial remand and in connection with the incident, Cyberabad Police Commissioner M Ramesh said on Saturday.
Video Of Home Guard Assault Circulates Online
A video of the incident, circulated on social media, showed the Home Guard allegedly hitting the woman with his hands before dragging her by her hair.
The Home Guard, who was deputed for duty at Hafizpet Railway Station, was allegedly abused by the woman, a ragpicker, during an altercation, a police official said, citing a preliminary investigation.
Case Registered Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
A case was registered against him at Miyapur Police Station under Sections 74 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 118 (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, police said.
The South Central Railway, in a post on X, said the incident had been enquired into and the personnel concerned was identified as a Home Guard of the Telangana State Police who had been deputed for duty at Hafizpet Railway Station.
