The talks focused on the West Asia crisis and its wider impact. The calls came as concerns grew over shipping disruptions near Iran and the Strait of Hormuz. India watches the situation closely due to energy and trade interests.

The developments unfolded amid a US naval blockade of Irans ports. The US move followed reports that Iran partly blocked shipping flows through the Strait of Hormuz. Oil and gas markets reacted quickly to the disruption. The strait is a narrow route between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

Jaishankar described the exchange with Saar on social media. “Had a telecon this afternoon with Israel FM @gidonsaar. Our discussion covered different aspects of the West Asia situation,\” Jaishankar said. After the conversation, Saar said Irans actions affecting navigation in the Strait of Hormuz required a response. Saar also stressed access for all countries, including India.

Saar detailed the issues raised during the call. \”We discussed Iran, the Strait of Hormuz, and Lebanon. I said that the firm American stance in the negotiations on conditions that would prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons no enrichment in Iran, removal of enriched material from Iran is critical for the entire international community,\” the Israeli foreign minister said. The statement linked maritime concerns with wider security issues.
