Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s much-awaited movie will make it to cinema halls in less than 12 hours. The legion fans of the actor-turned-politician have given superb response to advance booking of tickets as the flick is ready to register a gigantic start at the box office.

The movie has already sold 6.45 lakh tickets from 8876 shows in India. It is translating into Rs 14.94 crore in the country, according to an early estimates by Sacnilk. Vijay’s home territory Tamil Nadu has contributed the lion’s share as it has earned Rs 8.03 crore.

Tamil Nadu CM Vijay’s movie ‘Jana Nayagan’ amassed ₹14.94 crore from advance bookings in India, with analysts predicting a ₹90 crore global opening day and a potential ₹250 crore worldwide weekend.

Karnataka, where tickets are being sold as high as Rs 2600 for recliners seats at multiplexes, comes next with Rs 4.33 crore. In Kerala where Vijay enjoys a good fan following, it has raked in Rs 1.36 crore from pre sales.

The advance booking has commenced in Andhra, Telangana, and Maharashtra as well and getting good response.

According to the data, Jana Nayagan has collected Rs 2.66 crore in advance bookings from 500 shows with an occupancy rate of Rs 2.66 crore in Chennai.

The multilingual movie has earned about Rs 35 crore from the advance booking alone from India and overseas markets, NDTV reported. Trade tracker Ramesh Bala has predicted the film to earn Rs 90 crore at the global box office on day 1.

He said, “In India, I estimate an opening of Rs 60 crore. Globally, my estimate is Rs 90 crore.” He has claimed that the movie might earn in the range of Rs 150-180 crore at the domestic market in the first weekend and worldwide collection my touch Rs 250 crore.

“So, for fans it’s a double celebration. They already celebrated his election and political victory; now they will celebrate the film as well. Vijay is no longer just a star – he’s the Chief Minister. Fans are living a moment of their lives,” Bala added.

Jana Nayagan has generated a lot of positive buzz despite the film getting leaked online. H Vinoth-directorial film was originally scheduled for release in January 10 for Pongal festival but it got delayed due to censor-related issues.
