The ceremony took place in the open space decorated with flowers and diyas. Priest performed special rituals from Srividya tradition, while Raj was also present at the ceremony. Samantha Explains the Special Ritual
Samantha said she has always respected Indian traditions and rituals, although she doesn’t understand meaning of many of the rituals.
“I have always had a deep respect for our traditions. I may not understand the meaning behind every ritual, but I have always believed that there is something deeper at work,” she wrote on Instagram.
She said that Kalaa Aavarana, also known as Sri Kalpam is a special ritual from Srividya tradition. Samantha explained the ritual honours the 94 kalas of Devi through the seven chakras of the mother-to-be. Sacred water and mantras are being performed during the rituals to cleanse energise these centres.
Samantha Says She Was Deeply Moved
Samantha said the most emotional part of the ritual was the way the mother is being treated during the ritual. “What moved me most was the way the mother is seen through this ritual. She is honoured as Devi herself,” she said.
She explained that the ritual sees the mother as the person through whom another life is taking shape. She said the ceremony is a blessing for both the unborn child and the mother entering a new stage of her life.
