Now when the students protest is over, which was stagged at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar for around 50 days, where lakhs of students and supporters came and stayed to raise their demands, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has launched a massive sanitation drive at the protest site and nearby areas. According to the reports, over 500 sanitation workers have been deployed to remove waste, debris and temporary structures.
Though, Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and other students organisations cleared the area before leaving, but now, government sanitation workers have begun the clean-up campaign. The civic body has deployed sanitation workers in multiple shifts to restore normalcy.
Following a 50-day student protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) deployed over 500 sanitation workers for a massive clean-up, removing tonnes of waste and debris after the protest concluded upon demands being met.
On Saturday, CJP chief Abhijit Dipke announced to withdraw the protest after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stepped down from his post and Government accepted other key demands.
Several tonnes of waste removed
A NDMC official told media that civic body was continuously doing its job to keep the protest site clean, and now a massive drive begun to clear tens of tonnes of mixed waste and left overs.
The volume of waste increased significantly as the agitation progressed, prompting the civic body to intensify the clean-up with round-the-clock deployment of workers and machinery.
