The pair, Ajay Singh and Jamat Ali alias Jamad, face multiple NDPS Act cases involving heroin, charas, poppy straw, and psychotropic substances, with FSL confirmation in heroin cases.

Officials identified the accused as Ajay Singh of Ladda in Udhampur district and Jamat Ali alias Jamad of Khari Paroh in Katra tehsil. Police said both faced several cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances NDPS Act. The cases involved seizures of heroin, charas, poppy straw and psychotropic substances.

PITNDPS Act detention in Reasi district and jail transfer

Police said Katra police station started preventive detention proceedings under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances PITNDPS Act. Police linked the process to the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan. Police said Singh and Jamad were detained through orders issued by the Jammu divisional commissioner DC.

Officials said police prepared detailed dossiers for the case history and alleged activities. Officials said the dossiers were made on directions of Reasi SSP Mukund Tibrewal. Police said the detention orders were later approved by DC Jammu Ramesh Kumar. Officials did not share further details on the time frame for review.

NDPS Act cases and FSL reports in Reasi district action

Police said the two men were allegedly involved in many NDPS Act cases. Police cited recoveries that included heroin, charas, poppy straw and psychotropic substances. Officials said Forensic Science Laboratory FSL reports in heroin-related cases confirmed the presence of diacetyl morphine. Police treated these findings as part of the case record.

According to police, both accused kept returning to narcotics trafficking despite earlier action and warnings. Officials said police viewed the alleged pattern as a risk to public safety. Police also said the action aimed to stop attempts to lure youth into substance abuse. Officials reiterated that enforcement would continue under strict legal provisions.
