Delhi CM Rekha Gupta visited Jhandewalan Temple on October 11, the first day of Sharadiya Navratri, to pray for citizens’ well-being. She also stated that protests causing public inconvenience or damaging property are unacceptable, prioritizing Delhi’s safety and order.
Rekha Gupta Extends Navratri Greetings
Extending her greetings on the occasion, Gupta said the festival of Maa Durga represents faith, devotion, strength and righteousness. She highlighted how the Goddess’s nine forms inspire people to embrace courage, self-restraint, austerity, compassion and the path of dharma.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that Maa Bhagwati’s blessings would continue to guide Delhi and India towards progress. She also wished for happiness, prosperity and positivity in every citizen’s life.
Sharadiya Navratri is a Hindu festival dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga and her nine forms. Devotees observe prayers and religious rituals during the nine-day festival.
CM Takes Firm Stand Against Public Disruption
Alongside her festival message, Gupta addressed concerns over attempts to create disorder in the national capital. She reiterated that protests should not inconvenience ordinary citizens, disrupt daily life or cause damage to public property.
“The people of Delhi had nothing to do with those who could not think about the country, work towards its interests or take pride in its progress,” she said.
Democracy Must Not Come at Public’s Expense
Gupta acknowledged that expressing views is a democratic right but stressed that such freedom should not be used to disrupt the city.
“Everyone has the right to express their views in a democracy, but inconveniencing the public, damaging public property and disrupting the normal order of the city in the name of protest are unacceptable.”
The Chief Minister reaffirmed that the Delhi Government would prioritise public safety, convenience and the smooth functioning of the city. She said the government would work to ensure residents do not face unnecessary hardship and warned that attempts to hold Delhi hostage or damage public property would not be tolerated.
“Ensuring the safety and convenience of ordinary citizens and maintaining the city’s order remain the government’s priorities,” she added.
