Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP and Uttar Pradesh in-charge Sanjay Singh has questioned the status of five government schools in Jaunpur district, alleging that they are shown as operational in official records and on the U-DISE portal but could not be found on the ground.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Singh claimed that Primary Schools Dhalgarh Tola, Misirpur, Urdu Bazar, Bagh Hasin, and Kanya Composite School Gagan Arjani are listed as functioning in government records. However, according to him, there is no clear evidence of their operation at their reported locations.

He said the issue raises serious questions about the functioning of the education department and the accuracy of official records. Singh demanded an inquiry into the matter and sought accountability from the officials concerned.
The AAP leader alleged that instead of taking action against those responsible for irregularities in the education system, authorities are targeting people who bring such issues to light. Referring to incidents in Noida and Hardoi, he claimed that party workers faced legal action after highlighting the poor condition of government schools and public infrastructure.
Singh said that if there are discrepancies between official records and the actual status of these schools, a fair investigation should be conducted. He added that action should be taken against any officials found responsible for negligence or wrongdoing.
He also said that the Aam Aadmi Party is running a statewide “Fix the Schools” campaign in Uttar Pradesh and will continue to raise issues related to the condition of government schools.
However, no official response from the Uttar Pradesh government or the education department had been received at the time of publishing this report. The government’s version will be included once it becomes available.
