Bangladesh Former PM Sheikh Hasina has praised PM Narendra Modi and the Indian government for the way she has been treated in India since arriving. Noticeably, Sheikh Hasina had to leave Bangladesh after a nationwide protest against her government, she left Bangladesh in August 2024 and came to India.

Former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina stated she received head-of-state level respect and security from India since her August 2024 departure, praising PM Modi, and affirmed her determination to return to Bangladesh despite ongoing legal cases.
Since then this is the first time when Sheikh Hasina made her first media interaction. Her family has stated that she received respect like a “head of state” with full security. Hasina has claimed that she will return to Bangladesh despite she may face legal action.
Son Says PM Modi Extended ‘Utmost Respect’
While speaking about Sheikh Hasina’s stay in India, her son Joy said that PM Narendra Modi ensured that she was treated with dignity throughout her stay in India.
He said that PM Modi respected Sheikh Hasina as a “head of state” and Indian government provided full security to her. While describing India’s support, he said that they were given “utmost respect.”
Hasina Says She Will Return to Bangladesh
While addressing virtual press conference, Sheikh Hasina also said that she intend to return to Bangladesh despite she will face legal cases.
“I will return to my people,” Hasina said. “I may be detained. I may be taken to prison. Fear cannot decide my duty to the people,” she added.
This was her first public media comments since she had left Bangladesh and came to India. These comments came at the time when she faces legal proceedings against her in Bangladesh.
