An Indian-origin family died in London on May 27. They fell from a 36th-floor apartment balcony. The incident took place in a south London building. The victims were a father, mother, and their son. Police are treating the deaths as unexpected.

The victims were Rakesh Pai, aged 47. His wife was Aditi Paralkar, aged 46. Their son, Sid, was nine years old. Emergency services failed to revive them at the site. They were declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

On May 27, Rakesh Pai (47), Aditi Paralkar (46), and their 9-year-old son Sid fell from a 36th-floor balcony in south London, resulting in their deaths. The Metropolitan Police are investigating these unexpected deaths, with an inquest to determine the official cause.

MP speaks on family background

Member of Parliament Neil Coyle wrote to building residents. He believes the child had severe health conditions. Coyle suggested these illnesses led to a “horrendous decision.” He inferred this was a factor in the deaths.

Friends knew the couple as Adi and Robin. They worked in finance and construction consulting. The family travelled to India in 2020. They sought medical treatment for Sid there. They returned to the UK in 2025.

Friends and neighbours offer accounts

Some friends dispute a murder-suicide theory. One friend said Robin was a composed person. They said he managed the stress well. Another contact said the care took a toll on Aditi. Her mental health was under pressure.

A neighbour spoke to the police about the flat. She reported hearing shouting in the apartment. This occurred in the weeks before the deaths. Police are currently gathering more evidence from the area.

A police spokesperson said next-of-kin are informed now. Specialist officers are supporting the family members. No other injuries were reported during the incident. Police work continues to formally identify the victims involved.

Official investigation continues

Julian Morris is the senior coroner for the area. He confirmed the matter was referred to his office. The Metropolitan Police continue to lead the investigation. An inquest will determine the cause of death.
