Tesla has called back 173 Cybertrucks after finding that a cracked rotor could lead to a wheel stud separating. Such a failure can reduce control and raise crash and injury risk. The action covers model year 2024-2026 Cybertrucks fitted with 18-inch steel wheels, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Tesla is recalling 173 model year 2024–2026 Cybertrucks with 18-inch steel wheels after the NHTSA cited rotor cracking that could lead to wheel stud separation and reduced controllability. Tesla will replace front and rear brake rotors, hubs, and lug nuts free of charge. A separate recall covers over 200,000 vehicles for a rearview camera software fault.

The agency said rough road use and cornering can stress the stud hole in the wheel rotor. Over time, this strain may start cracks in the rotor. With continued driving, the wheel stud could then detach from the wheel hub. Officials warned that wheel stud separation may affect controllability and increase collision risk.

Tesla recall for Cybertruck rotor cracking

For vehicles in the Cybertruck recall, Tesla will swap parts at no charge. The fix includes new front and rear brake rotors, hubs, and lug nuts. Tesla said the replacement components are more durable than the original parts. The manufacturer’s recall number for this issue is SB-26-33-003.

Owners can reach Tesla customer service on 1-877-798-3752 for help with the Cybertruck recall process. The recall covers only Cybertrucks with 18-inch steel wheels. The report did not list other wheel types for this specific issue. The NHTSA notice focused on the risk linked to rotor cracking.

Tesla recall for rearview camera software issue

Tesla has also recalled more than 200,000 electric vehicles due to a software fault. The issue can make the rearview camera stop working for a short time. The recall includes Model Y, Model S, Model X and Model 3 vehicles. A missing camera image can limit the driver’s view and raise crash risk.

Tesla’s recall number for the rearview camera problem is SB-26-00-016. Tesla said it was not aware of any accidents, fatalities or injuries tied to either recall. The two actions cover separate problems, one linked to hardware on Cybertrucks. The other involves software affecting several Tesla models.
