In the latest development, an witness in the sexual assault case against former Janata Dal (Secular) Member of Parliament Prajwal Revanna has approached a court in Bengaluru stating that she has been receiving threatening calls on her mobile phone.

A witness in the Prajwal Revanna sexual assault case has reported receiving threatening calls to a Bengaluru court, prompting the court to direct the SIT and CID to investigate the threats and ensure the witness’s protection.
She further expressed fear for the safety of her son, saying that the accused should be made responsible for any harm caused to either of them.
Considering her claims, the special court in Bengaluru has asked the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to look into the matter.
Court Seeks Detailed Investigation Into Threat Calls
The witness came to the court on Thursday and informed the court regarding the threats by unknown persons against her.
In her statement, the witness has also conveyed her concern about the safety of her son.
According to the report, in her statement, the witness has conveyed to the court that if anything happens to them then the accused should be held responsible for it.
After her statement, the special court of Bengaluru has asked the SIT to probe the threats made to the witness.
The court has also asked the investigation agency to submit a report before the next hearing.
Police have also been ordered to ensure the security of the witness.
What Is The Prajwal Revanna Case?
Prajwal Revanna, who has been an MP from Hassan in the past and is the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, has been booked for cases related to rapes and sexual harassments.
In one such case in August 2025, Revanna was found guilty and was given life imprisonment in a case of rape of a 48-year-old lady who was working as a domestic help in his family farmhouse in Hassan.
Revanna had sexually abused the lady two times from 2021 to 2024 and even recorded it on his mobile phone.
It came to light in April 2024 when some videos surfaced where he was shown sexually harassing women in 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Revanna Was Arrested After Returning From Germany
Revanna left India for Germany after the allegations became public. He was arrested on May 31, 2024, after returning to India. He had contested the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Hassan as the NDA candidate but lost the seat.
The former MP is also facing two other rape cases and one sexual harassment case, according to the details provided in the case.
Witness Protection Becomes Key Issue
The latest development has brought the issue of witness safety into focus.
The court’s direction to investigate the alleged threatening calls and provide police protection comes as the case continues through legal proceedings.
The SIT and CID will now examine who made the alleged calls, whether the threats were connected to the case and whether any further action is required to protect the witness and her family.
