A 21-year-old woman died during a bungee jumping activity in Brazil after the safety rope was allegedly not attached before she was pushed off a bridge. The incident, which occurred in Limeira in São Paulo state, was captured on video and has sparked outrage after footage surfaced online showing what witnesses described as a fatal lapse in safety procedures.

Brazil Woman Dies From Bungee Jumping

A 21-year-old woman died in Limeira, São Paulo, Brazil, after allegedly falling 130 feet during a bungee jump when her safety rope was not attached. Six individuals have been detained as authorities investigate the fatal incident involving the company Entre Cordas.

Viral Footage Raises Questions Over Safety Protocols

Videos shared on social media show Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas being escorted by members of the bungee jumping crew to the edge of the Skeleton Bridge. Moments later, she was pushed off the platform.

The footage has drawn widespread attention because the safety rope can reportedly be seen lying on the ground instead of being connected to the participant. Several bystanders appeared to realise something was wrong almost immediately after the jump.

According to reports, Maria fell from a height of at least 130 feet. In one video recorded after the incident, shocked witnesses can be heard shouting, “the rope, people, the rope.”

Emergency Teams Respond, Six Detained

Authorities were called to the scene shortly after the incident on Saturday morning. Witnesses told police that the crew had forgotten to secure the safety equipment before Maria’s jump.

Emergency responders arrived quickly, but the young woman was declared dead at the location. Her body was later recovered and sent to the Legal Medical Institute for examination as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police have detained at least six individuals in connection with the case. Investigators are now examining the circumstances surrounding the incident and will determine whether criminal charges should be filed against those involved.

Social Media Posts Document Final Moments Before Jump

Before participating in the activity, Maria had reportedly shared several photographs and videos from the site on her social media accounts. Among the posts were images of the bridge, her jump wristbands, and employees of the company organising the event.

The operator responsible for the activity has been identified as Entre Cordas. Staff members visible in Maria’s posts were reportedly wearing company-branded T-shirts.

One of the final photographs she shared on Instagram carried the caption: “Who was the crazy person who let me come jump off a bridge?”

Company’s Operations Under Scrutiny

The tragedy has intensified scrutiny of safety standards surrounding adventure sports activities in Brazil. Reports indicate that the company was charging approximately £26.50 (around $35.42) per jump and had already advertised multiple future dates for bungee jumping sessions from the same bridge.

As investigators continue their probe, authorities are expected to review whether negligence or violations of safety regulations contributed to the fatal incident.

The case has triggered widespread debate online, with many questioning how such a basic safety check could allegedly have been missed before a participant was allowed to jump.
