Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar during the INDIA bloc’s mega rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on Sunday.

At Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan, Rahul Gandhi led an INDIA bloc rally, criticizing the BJP government for misusing institutions like CBI and ED, concentrating wealth with Adani and Ambani, and demanding action against CEC Gyanesh Kumar regarding electoral roll issues.

Addressing a large gathering of Opposition leaders and supporters, Gandhi accused the BJP-led government of weakening democratic institutions and allowing the country’s wealth to flow into the hands of a few wealthy industrialists, including Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani.

He alleged that institutions such as the RSS, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) were under the influence of the ruling establishment.

Gandhi also said that removing Gyanesh Kumar from the post of Chief Election

Commissioner was the first step towards bringing the country back on the right path.
The rally was organised by the INDIA bloc to protest against alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and to demand action against the Chief Election Commissioner.

Rahul Gandhi Says India’s Institutions Have Been Captured

In his address, Gandhi alleged that several important institutions in the country were being controlled by the BJP and the RSS.

He claimed that the wealth generated through the hard work of ordinary Indians was benefiting only a handful of rich people.

“All the institutions of India, including the RSS, CBI and ED, have been captured by them. The wealth of the poor is going into the pockets of two rich people, Ambani and Adani,” Gandhi said.

He added that the INDIA bloc would not accept a country where opportunities and resources were concentrated in the hands of a few industrialists.

Gandhi also criticised what he described as the growing influence of big business groups across different sectors. He said he did not want a country where one industrialist could dominate areas such as electricity, education, drones, mobile phones and housing.

‘We Want An India Where Everyone Has Equal Opportunities’

Explaining his vision of India, Gandhi referred to the traditional image of Lord Shiva’s wedding procession, or Shiv Ki Baraat, where people from different backgrounds are believed to come together without discrimination.

He said he wanted a country where everyone had the freedom to participate and where hard work was rewarded.

Gandhi said farmers should earn a fair income when they work hard, while students should get employment opportunities and a chance to fulfil their dreams after completing their education.

He stressed that India’s future should not be controlled by a small group of powerful people.

Rahul Gandhi Says Removing Gyanesh Kumar Is The First Step

The Congress leader made the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar a key part of his speech.

He said bringing the country back on the right path would begin with removing Kumar from his position. Gandhi also warned that those responsible for what he described as an attack on democracy would face accountability.

Referring to the BJP’s confidence that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would remain in power, Gandhi said the Opposition would continue its fight and would not allow those responsible for alleged wrongdoing to escape scrutiny.

However, he clarified that his opposition was not based on personal hatred towards Modi, Shah or Gyanesh Kumar.

“We do not hate Modi, Amit Shah or Gyanesh Kumar. We are people who open shops of love. But you have attacked the country’s democracy,” Gandhi said.
He added that protecting the voice of Indian citizens was more important to him than any religious or political consideration.

‘This Is Not The Protest Of One Party’: Rahul Gandhi Thanks Supporters

Gandhi also thanked people who attended the rally and maintained peace during the protest.
He said the gathering was not limited to any one political party but represented a larger movement to protect democracy.

He accused the ruling establishment of spreading hatred and said the INDIA bloc wanted to build a country based on love and unity.
Gandhi ended his address by thanking the people who had joined the demonstration and supported the Opposition’s campaign.

Akhilesh Yadav Predicts BJP’s Defeat In 2027 Uttar Pradesh Elections
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also addressed the rally and predicted that the BJP would lose power in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Describing the large gathering at Ramlila Maidan as a historic moment for democracy, Yadav called the venue a ‘Haldighati of democracy’. He said the public support visible at the rally indicated that political change could come again.

Taking a dig at the BJP, Yadav said people from Uttar Pradesh who had come to power would eventually be sent back.

He said the Opposition had already given the BJP a setback in the Lok Sabha elections, but the party and its allies would face a much bigger defeat in the 2027 Assembly polls.
Using a religious reference associated with Ramlila Maidan, Yadav said that those who commit wrongdoing would eventually face their downfall.

Mallikarjun Kharge Accuses BJP Of Misusing Central Agencies

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also targeted the Centre during his speech. He accused the BJP-led government of using central agencies such as the ED to put pressure on Opposition leaders.

Kharge alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah were protecting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He said the Opposition would continue its campaign until action was taken against Kumar.

Raising the slogan, ‘Modi Hatao, Loktantra Bachao’ (Remove Modi, Save Democracy), Kharge accused the BJP of forming governments through unfair means in states such as Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.
He said the Opposition would not stop its political fight until the BJP was removed from power.

Mamata Banerjee Says Bengal Will Not Surrender Over SIR

Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also addressed the gathering and accused the BJP of misusing government agencies and institutions for political purposes.
She alleged that the BJP had taken control of the police and that agencies were not functioning independently. Banerjee also made allegations concerning the Ram Janmabhoomi funds and Waqf properties.

Speaking about the SIR exercise in West Bengal, she said the state was suffering because of the way the process was being carried out.

Banerjee declared that her party would continue to fight and would not surrender. She said the Opposition would use democratic and political means to challenge the BJP.
“We will give our lives, we will fight, but we will not surrender,” she said, adding that the INDIA bloc would work to protect democracy.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury Calls Rally A Sign Of Political Change

Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury also praised the turnout at the INDIA bloc rally.
He said he had never witnessed such a large political gathering in Delhi during his lifetime. Chowdhury claimed that the public response showed that the BJP’s time in power was coming to an end.

The rally brought several Opposition leaders together on one platform, with speeches focusing on the SIR controversy, the role of the Election Commission, central agencies and the future of democracy in the country.
