Traffic jam is a recurring problem in Delhi NCR’s Greater Noida. Residents of Greater Noida West witness a daily struggle with daily traffic jams at Gaur Chowk and nearby roads. The traffic police conducted a detailed survey of congestion-prone areas on Sunday and sought suggestions from local residents and community representatives to improve traffic movement according to the report by Navbharat Times.
Greater Noida West traffic police surveyed congestion hotspots like Gaur Chowk and Parthala, gathering resident suggestions to create a new traffic plan involving removal of illegal stands and infrastructure improvements.
DCP Traffic Abhay Kumar Mishra inspected the traffic post at Gaur Chowk and held discussions with residents about the problems they face during peak hours. Traffic officials also visited several busy stretches to identify the main reasons behind the congestion.
Traffic Police Survey Gaur Chowk, Parthala And Gaur City-2
The survey was conducted in places like Gaur Chowk, Parthala, Gaur City-2 and other surrounding areas.
According to DCP Traffic Abhay Kumar Mishra, along with Traffic Inspector Prafull Srivastava, analyzed traffic and found out the spots where traffic congestion often takes place.
Resident also explained their problems in traveling in these areas and possible solutions to them.
As per Mishra, the traffic problems in Greater Noida West area were already discussed with the residents prior to visiting these spots. He also said that the suggestions put forth by the residents would be taken into account while making a new traffic arrangement.
A letter would also be sent to the concerned police station and Greater Noida Authority for the problems that need to be sorted by the respective departments.
Residents Demand Removal Of Illegal Auto Stand
One of the major concerns raised by residents was the alleged illegal auto and e-rickshaw stand near the Gaur roundabout.
Resident Manish Tripathi said auto and e-rickshaw drivers frequently park on both sides of the road connecting Greater Noida West with Noida.
According to residents, the vehicles reduce the available road space and contribute to congestion around the roundabout. They have demanded that the alleged illegal stand be removed.
Residents also raised concerns about the condition of the road, saying poor road conditions are adding to traffic problems.
Service Road Extension Suggested To Ease Morning Congestion
Another issue highlighted during the survey was the service road connecting the Hindon Bridge towards Parthala with the main road.
Residents said traffic pressure increases at the point where the two roads meet, particularly during the morning peak hours.
They suggested extending the service road towards the Parthala flyover so that traffic can move more smoothly and congestion at the junction can be reduced.
U-Turns Proposed In Gaur City-2
Residents also identified two locations in Gaur City-2 where traffic jams frequently occur.
A proposal will be sent to the Greater Noida Authority seeking suitable U-turn arrangements at these points.
Residents believe that a better U-turn system could reduce unnecessary traffic movement and help vehicles move more efficiently through the area.
Action Against Wrong-Side Driving And Illegal Parking
The residents also suggested strict action against vehicles travelling in the wrong direction near Gaur roundabout.
Another major concern was illegal parking outside Gaur Mall, which residents said affects traffic movement.
Residents Sanjay Upadhyay, Naveen Tiwari and Rajkumar said the survey specifically focused on locations where traffic pressure becomes particularly high during peak hours.
New Traffic Plan To Be Prepared
Based on the survey and suggestions received from residents, the traffic police will now work on a new traffic management arrangement for the area.
Residents, however, said simply deploying traffic police at busy points has not been enough to solve the problem. They want long-term measures such as better road planning, removal of roadside obstructions, improved U-turns and action against illegal parking and wrong-side driving.
The upcoming coordination between the traffic police and the Greater Noida Authority will be important in determining whether these measures can provide lasting relief to commuters in Greater Noida West.
