The listing, marked by the iconic stock market bell-ringing ceremony, came after its initial public offering drew record investor participation.
At the time of reporting, the shares were trading at Rs 1,357.45, up Rs 238.45 or 21.31 per cent from the issue price. The stock touched an early high of Rs 1,374. On Wednesday, Jio Platforms listed at Rs 1,358, over 21% higher than its Rs 1,119 IPO price, achieving a market cap of Rs 12.5 lakh crore following its record-breaking IPO which was the fastest subscribed mega issue in India.

Speaking at the event, Jio Platforms’ Managing Director Akash Ambani said the response to the IPO had surpassed the company’s imagination and vowed to make Jio “bigger, better and more meaningful for India.” He promised to take Jio to greater heights of growth and excellence and said the company aims to democratise every technology that can transform Indian lives, including connectivity from space.
Akash Ambani recalled the story of Anjali, a young girl in a mountainous region of Kerala who used to walk two kilometres uphill every day to access data connectivity on her mother’s phone so she could download school lessons. With Jio, that daily trek ended and her home became her classroom, he said, adding that the company’s success is measured by the ambitions it inspires and the potential it unlocks.

Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani said the day was one of gratitude to the millions who believed in Jio.
“Jai Shree Krishna…Let me begin with the one word that matters most today: gratitude. I am deeply grateful to the millions who believed in Jio and made this day possible. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Today, the bell at the stock exchange will ring for me like a temple bell. For me, business is a form of worship, and every worship ritual concludes with prasad. We offer this day at the feet of Lord Ganesha, Dwarkanath Ji, Shrinathji, Balaji, and the living goddess, Bharat Mata…Many years ago, a dream emerged from an ordinary home in Chorwad. It belonged to a young man who worked at a petrol pump in Aden, with neither money nor recognition. That young man was our revered Grandfather Dhirubhai Ambani. He showed us that an ordinary Indian can dream extraordinary dreams,” PTI quoted him as saying.
He further added that Jamnagar was once-barren land and it has now turned into the site of the world’s largest refinery. Anant said that his father Mukesh Ambani showed the world that when India builds, the world takes notice. He stated, “Then came the New India, the young India, and a new dream: internet in every hand and the world within reach of every village. The name of that dream was Jio. The seed of this dream was planted by Isha Didi, and Akash Bhai made that seed his own dream. Jio was then taken to every corner of the country.”

Reliance Jio Infocomm Chairman Akash Ambani says, “In the decade since, we have had the privilege of transforming the lives of hundreds of millions of Indians. What energised us then, and continues to energise us every day, was never the technology itself, but the people it empowered. A few years ago, in a mountainous region of Kerala, a young girl named Anjali used to walk two kilometres uphill every single day. She did not make this journey for water or supplies, but simply to access data connectivity on her mother’s phone so she could download her school lessons. With Jio, that exhausting daily trek came to an end. Her home became her classroom, and her smartphone became a gateway to infinite knowledge. As we ring the bell today to mark our listing, we remember the millions of Anjalis across India. Our success is measured by the ambitions we inspire and the potential we unlock as we work towards building a better India.”(Source: Jio YT)(Full video available on PTI Videos – https://t.co/bIyFWTfmBd)
