A dumper transporting gravel for road repairs, fell into a deep pit because a section of the road had collapsed near theNavsha Ganapati area along Gangapur road in Nashik. Once again the quality of roads in Nashik has been questioned because of the poor condition of the road and the repair work that is going on.
A road collapsed on Nashik’s Gangapur road near Navsha Ganapati, causing a gravel-laden dumper to fall into a 10-12 feet deep pit, thus questioning the quality of ongoing road repairs and construction standards.
While transporting gravel, the dumper slipped into a pit believed to be about 10 to 12 feet deep.
Dumper Falls As Road Gives Way
Based on the locals’ reports, the dumper contained gravel that would be used to construct roads, but suddenly the road collapsed and the dumper fell right into the cavity.
The truck slid directly into the deep cavity created by the collapse. This has caused a lot of worry amongst the people in the locality especially that the dumper had a huge amount of gravel in it.
This road collapse has made people wonder whether the structure of the road was strong enough to carry heavy machinery.

Nashik Roads Under Scrutiny
This particular accident has occurred at a time when the condition of roads in Nashik itself has become a matter of grave concern.
Previously, there was an incident where five deaths had occurred due to the potholes in Nashik, which brought to light the concern about the safety of the roads. This concern led to the MP of Shiv Sena (UBT) party Sanjay Raut organizing a march against the road condition.
Now that another serious accident has occurred with the road caves-in Gangapur Road, this has raised yet more questions regarding the road repairs.
Claims Of Pothole Repairs Face Questions
Minister for Nashik Guardian, Girish Mahajan, has said that about 80 per cent potholes of Nashik have been repaired and that too with good quality of repair.
But now the collapse of the road at Navsha Ganapati has put a doubt on his claim.
The creation of a pit of 10 to 12 feet depth on the road where construction material was being carried has made people wonder if the problem was with only surface potholes.
Demand For Accountability Over Road Work
The incident has also put the spotlight on the quality checks carried out during road construction and repair projects.
Residents have pointed out that several newly constructed roads have reportedly started developing cracks or deteriorating, raising concerns about the durability of the work.
The latest cave-in has therefore shifted the focus from simply filling potholes to examining the overall quality, construction standards and safety of Nashik’s roads.
